Introduction to the site and objectives

Through this website we would like to:

  • provide snorkellers with a guide to what species of marine life they might be able to see when visiting specific coastal resorts.
  • provide the resorts with a guide to the diversity of the marine life immediately off their shore.
  • increase the wealth of knowledge on the distribution and status of species on a wider scale.

What's in each marine life guide

Each guide includes a description of the site, with maps and habitat illustrations.  Notes are provided on suitable entry and exit points, with safety notes where relevant.  The majority of the guide consists of photographs of marine species taken while snorkelling off the shore of a named resort.

The species are identified and a short description provided for each.  As the images have been collected from individual resorts, there is a good chance, if you are staying there, that you will be able to see the species for yourself.

For further information on the detail included in the marine life guide please read more.
